Postdoctoral Fellows: We’re Hiring

The Buckley Lab in the joint Emory University/Georgia Institute of Technology Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Emory University Department of Pediatrics is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow.  This opening is available ASAP for a candidate with a strong background in traumatic brain injury.

Responsibilities: This postdoctoral research associate will contribute to projects that use non-invasive optical imaging/spectroscopy to investigate prognostic biomarkers in the study of repetitive traumatic brain injury.  The candidate is expected to be creative, self-motivated, and capable of working in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in one of the following disciplines: biomedical engineering, neurology, neuroscience, or a related field. The candidate must demonstrate an academic record of scientific excellence, independent research, and good writing and communication skills. Strong experimental skills and hands-on experience with preclinical models are essential; experience in traumatic brain injury preferred. Experience in programming, especially MATLAB, will be favorably considered.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and CV including the names of 3 references by email to Dr. Erin Buckley (erin.buckley@emory.edu) with “Postdoc Application” in the subject.

Postdoc Paul Lee wins best poster award

The 2018 Southeastern Pediatric Research Conference was held on June 8th at the Georgia Aquarium, and the theme this year was “Precision Medicine.” Many researchers came from all over to present their groundbreaking research in pediatric research. The Buckley Lab was represented very well at the conference by our postdoc, Paul. He presented his poster on a non-invasive bedside monitoring method for sickle cell patients. He won 2nd place in the poster competition- congratulations, Paul!

New Lab Members!

We’d like to welcome two new undergraduate students to our lab- Wesley Matingou and Amy Patel!

Wesley is a biomedical engineering major at Morehouse College, and Amy is a neuroscience major at Georgia Tech. On another note, Peter Lee (who was in our lab before) has decided to come back to our lab after finishing his first year as a computer science major at Tech. Welcome back, Peter!

We also are having two students who are joining us for the summer!

Michella Obialor is a high school student who is a part of the Atlanta Sickle Cell Summer Research Training Program, and Nguyen Nguyen is a computer science and physics major at Mount Holyoke College, who is a part of the Pediatric Engineering Research Summer Experience (PERSE) program.

We’re super excited to work with everyone!
