Summer 2016 Updates

We’ve had a busy summer so far full of exciting science!  Bharat Sanders, who graduated from Georgia Tech BME in May, has joined the lab as a research technician. Other new faces are Monali Shah, a GT BME undergraduate, and Simrill Smith, a Druid Hill high school junior, who are both doing summer research in the lab.   Welcome to all our new members!

Postdoc Position Available

We are searching for a new postdoctoral fellow! This opening is available ASAP for a candidate with a strong background in diffuse optics and translational clinical research.

Responsibilities: This postdoctoral research associate will contribute to projects that involve the development and translation of diffuse correlation spectroscopy/near infrared spectroscopy to the study of pediatric brain injury. The candidate is expected to be creative, self-motivated, and capable of working in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in one of the following disciplines: biomedical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field. The candidate must demonstrate an academic record of scientific excellence, independent research, and good writing and communication skills. Strong experimental skills and hands-on experience with optical systems are essential; experience in near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DCS) are preferred. Experience in programming such as MATLAB/C/C++ will be favorably considered.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and CV including the names of 3 references by email to Dr. Erin Buckley (erin.buckley@emory.edu) with “Postdoc Application” in the subject.

Welcome Wendy!

The Buckley Lab would like to extend a warm welcome to Wendy Rodriguez, the latest undergraduate addition to our lab.  Wendy is a junior at Emory University majoring in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology.  She will be helping with our preclinical studies of cerebral blood flow and oxygen metabolism in mice.  Welcome aboard, Wendy!
